Solar and power projects within reach of Retford
Retford sits on the western side of the Trent valley, where several of the UK's biggest solar farms have been given the go-ahead. These are the approved projects within reach of our flats, with approximate drive times from Albert Road.
Steeple Renewables, Sturton le Steeple. A solar farm of about 450MW with around 150MW of battery storage, granted development consent on 9 October 2026. It's about 9 miles from the flats, around 20 minutes.
West Burton Solar Project. A 480MW solar and storage scheme connecting at the West Burton substation, granted consent in January 2025. Test piling took place in September 2026, with construction planned to follow. The West Burton connection is about 9 miles away, around 20 minutes.
Cottam Solar Project. A 600MW solar and storage scheme connecting at the Cottam substation, granted consent in September 2024. The Cottam connection is about 10 miles away, around 25 minutes.
One Earth Solar Farm. Approved in July 2026 and set to be the UK's second largest solar farm, at 740MW, on both sides of the Trent around Ragnall, Fledborough and High Marnham. It's about 13 miles away, around 25 minutes.
Gate Burton Energy Park, near Marton. A 500MW solar and battery scheme, granted consent in July 2024, with construction due to start in 2027. It's about 18 miles away, around 30 minutes.
Tillbridge Solar Project, near Glentworth. Granted consent in October 2025. It's about 21 miles away, around 35 minutes.
Much of this work sits across the Trent in Lincolnshire, so check the route to your section of site. Tuxford is about 8 miles away (around 15 minutes) and Gainsborough is about 12 miles (around 25 minutes). If your job is further south towards Ollerton, our Worksop homes are closer, and Lincoln is about 22 miles from the flats, around 35 to 40 minutes.

The Albert Road flats

Book both for a crew of up to 6. The two flats are in the same building, so a crew of 4 or 6 can stay, park and eat out together, with each person still getting their own bed. It's all on one booking.
Parking for work vans. A wide off-street driveway in front of the house takes two cars or two vans side by side. If you're bringing anything bigger than a van, tell us before you book.

Gate Burton near Marton is about 18 miles (around 30 minutes) and Tillbridge near Glentworth is about 21 miles (around 35 minutes). How many of my crew can you house?
Flats A and B together give a crew of up to 6 their own beds, 3 in each flat, in the same building and on one booking. For bigger teams we can add our homes in Worksop and our house in South Anston, near M1 J31 in Rotherham, up to 37 people across our 8 homes.
Is there parking for vans?
Yes. The wide driveway in front of the house takes two cars or two vans side by side, so the crew parks in the same place. If you're bringing anything bigger than a van, tell us before you book.
Are you connected to any of these projects?
No. EvoStar Short Stays is an independent accommodation provider and isn't connected to any of the projects or developers named on this page. We simply have flats close to where the work is.

What is your cancellation policy?
We have a 14-day cancellation policy. Cancel more than 14 days before your stay and you get a full refund.

Yes. Every stay of 14 nights or more includes a free mid-stay clean and a fresh change of linen and towels.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Self check-in is from 4pm and check-out is by 10am, with 24/7 lockbox access so your crew can arrive late after a shift. Your access code is revealed at check-in time. Early check-in or late check-out is subject to availability, so request it in advance and our team will confirm.
What if the job runs over?
Just ask, even on your last day, and we'll extend if the flat is free.
